Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The United Nations System in Cape Verde considered, Saturday, \u201cexcellent\u201d the Cape Verdean Youth Capital initiative, whose choice this year fell on the municipality of Porto Novo, on the island of Santo Anta\u0303o.<\/p>\n

Adelaide Ribeiro, the representative of the joint UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA office, the United Nations agencies that provide technical and financial support for this project, said it was \u201can excellent initiative to increase the engagement and participation of young people in creating innovative local solutions, which can lead to transformative changes for local, national and global agendas\u201d.<\/p>\n

Events of this type can also lead to a \u201cstrong commitment by local authorities, with a view to not leaving any young person behind\u201d, said Adelaide Ribeiro, who this Saturday attended the official launch of the Porto Novo, Cabo Verdean Youth Capital 2023 initiative.<\/p>\n

It is also, in her view, an \u201cimportant milestone for youth\u201d in Santo Anta\u0303o and in Cape Verde, in general, and which contributes to \u201cencouraging the civic and political participation of young people\u201d in the life of the Country.<\/p>\n
