Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Immigrants\u2019 Association of Santo Ant\u00e3o (AERSA) welcomed on Thursday the opening by the Government of the period for extraordinary regularization of the situation of immigrants residing in the archipelago, which began on January 15.<\/p>\n

The vice president of this association, Dibane Dabo, told Inforpress that it is \u201ca great opportunity\u201d for the \u201cmany immigrants\u201d residing in Santo Ant\u00e3o who \u201chave been waiting a long time\u201d for the regularization of their residence situation.<\/p>\n

This week, foreign citizens from ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) participated in a clarification meeting promoted by the City Hall of Porto Novo, which has already secured all support in this process, which will run until June 15.<\/p>\n

According to AERSA, more than a hundred foreign citizens reside in Santo Ant\u00e3o, 59 in Porto Novo, 49 in Ribeira Grande and the remaining three in Paul, \u201cmany of whom\u201d have been waiting \u201cfor four, five and six years\u201d for the renovation or legalization of residence.<\/p>\n
