Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The community of Pedra de Lume, in Sal, now has a fishing pier which, in addition to contributing to the strengthening of fishing activities , is also a tourist attraction and a new centrality in the locality.<\/p>\n

The Cais de Pedra de Lume, recently renovated, was inaugurated on Friday the 10th, in a ceremony presided over by the Mayor, Ju\u0301lio Lopes, and the Minister of the Sea, Abra\u0303o Vicente.<\/p>\n

Support for fishermen’s associations, job security and reinforcement of fishing infrastructure are the valences of the reclassified pier that will contribute to the strengthening of fishing communities and to the process of implementing a logistics center for the industrialization of fishing.<\/p>\n

New centrality for Pedra de Lume.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Minister of the Sea, Abraa\u0303o Vicente, said that the requalification of the fishing pier is a symbol of a new centrality that is wanted to be given to Pedra de Lume.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to make a concession so that there is a beach bar here, support tourism and implement the Pedra de Lume museum to tell the story of this locality. We want to restore the self-esteem of all those born in this region\u201d, underlined Abra\u0303ao Vicente.<\/p>\n

According to the councilor for the social area of \u200b\u200bthe Municipality of Sal, Jocelino Cardoso, the Cais de Pedra de Lume area was transformed into a pleasant place, with safety and comfort.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese works are three in one, because we have this whole environment with artistic pavement, cemented pier, and an ice machine, for ice production and fish conservation, financed by the Ministry of the Sea\u201d, justified Jocelino Cardoso, adding that soon the fishermen will benefit from a small fuel station to supply the boats.<\/p>\n

\u201cEx-libris\u201d of the island of Sal<\/p>\n

The councilor for the environment, Francisco Correia, considers Cais de Pedra de Lume, an \u201cex-libris\u201d of the island of Sal, like Buracona, Ponta\u0303o and other points on the island that are very popular with tourists and visitors who come to the island.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to its practical use as a fishing pier, the objective is to transform this place into a tourist attraction. We dreamed, we designed and we managed to make it happen\u201d, emphasized that councilor.<\/p>\n

Budgeted at PTE 4,778,918, the rehabilitation of the Pedra de Lume Pier was financed by the Government, through the Ministry of the Sea\/Fundo Auto\u0301nomo das Pescas, through a program contract signed with the Municipality of Sal, in the amount of almost 5 million Escudos. The works started in July 2020.\r\n
