Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The three athletes who took their place, for the first time, in the African Road Cycling Championship, which took place in Ghana, brought an honorable 9th place in the participation table, in the team time trial. But a fall, in the U23 long-distance event, prevented national champion Ne\u0301lio Cruz from fighting for a place on the podium.<\/p>\n

The information was advanced by Ne\u0301lio Cruz himself on his official Facebook network, reporting the participation of the Cape Verdean entourage, in the team time trial, placing 9th overall and, as he congratulated himself, \u201cplacing CV (Cape Verde) among the top ten fastest African countries in Africa, in CR\u201d.<\/p>\n

A feat achieved together with Ru\u0301ben Ju\u0301nior (Santo Anta\u0303o) and Leonardo \u201cLeo King\u201d Cosme (Sa\u0303o Nicolau) who made up the national trio.<\/p>\n

Fall made it impossible to fight for a place on the podium<\/p>\n

This Monday, the 13th, together with the technical director, Emerson Da Grac\u0327a Fernandes and the other cyclists in the entourage, the decision was made for Ne\u0301lio Cruz to be the \u201cfavourite\u201d in the long distance race with the intuition of going in search of the Sub23 title for Cape Verde, but a fall ended up taking away the opportunity to fight for a place on the podium.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut things didn’t go as planned, due to a crash in the front pack, in which I was involved and soon unable to make it to the podium\u201d, wrote the cyclist.<\/p>\n

The Cycling Federation has also praised the participation of Cape Verdean athletes in the African Road Cycling Championship, which took place between the 8th and 13th of February in Ghana. \u201cA good African campaign, with great challenges and great records\u201d, wrote the Federation.<\/p>\n
