Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The fishing pier in the town of Pregui\u00e7a, in the municipality of Ribeira Brava, S\u00e3o Nicolau, will now have an ice production unit, which will be inaugurated this afternoon.<\/p>\n

The work, whose first stone was laid in February 2022, aims to ensure that fishermen, who previously went to Tarrafal to stock up on ice, reduce their operating costs.<\/p>\n

The production unit is the result of a partnership between the central and local governments, through a program contract.<\/p>\n

It is budgeted at CVE 5,694,312.00 (five million, six hundred and ninety-four thousand, three hundred and twelve escudos), with the part financed by the Ministry of the Sea covering the amount of CVE 4,500,000.00 (four million and five hundred thousand escudos), through the Autonomous Fisheries Fund.<\/p>\n

That contract, according to the guardianship, included the construction of a building to house the Ice Production Unit and supply, in addition to the installation of an Ice Production and Renewable Energy System.<\/p>\n
