Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (FA), Rear Admiral Anto\u0301nio Duarte Monteiro, said this Thursday that the priority of the military institution for this year 2023 focuses on recovery of naval units placed at the disposal of the Coast Guard.<\/p>\n

Duarte Monteiro, who was speaking to journalists at the end of the meeting of the Superior Council of Commands extended to directors of services and similar, which took place in the city of Praia for two days, recalled that Cape Verde has an extensive exclusive economic zone that needs to be patrolled and guarded, in addition to other actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cCape Verde has a very extensive exclusive economic zone of 734,265 square kilometers, we have search and rescue under our responsibility, in addition to overseeing illicit traffic that passes through our exclusive economic zone. Therefore, we have a lot of sea to take care of, so my priority is my willingness to effectively see these means duly recovered, \u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

Among these naval assets is the guardian ship, which, as he said, had a serious problem when it was last docked, the problem having already been identified and the authorities already working in the search for partnerships and funding for its recovery.<\/p>\n
