Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Jose\u0301 Maria Neves defended today that it is necessary to design instruments and programs that enable the insertion of Small Island Developing States in the dynamics of international trade.<\/p>\n

At the 36th Summit of the African Union (AU), which takes place on the 18 and 19 February in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Head of State, made the considerations during his intervention on Cape Verde\u2019s perspectives on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Maria Neves underlined that, given the vulnerabilities and specificities, the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) suffer from poor insertion in intercontinental trade and other impediments, a situation that makes them excessively fragile to external shocks.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this reason, in the roadmap for implementing the African continental free trade zone, it is necessary to design instruments and programs that make it possible for small states to be included in the dynamics of international trade,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
