Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The ICIEG, in partnership with the High Authority for Immigration (AAI), promoted this Thursday, in Praia, a workshop for migrant women so that they can learn about their rights and encourage their civic participation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is to talk to them, present their rights, the main legal frameworks and encourage their participation in their active lives, in communities and in general\u201d. Said the president of the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), Marisa Carvalho.<\/p>\n

For the training to be possible, she explained, it was necessary to adjust the hours after work, a way, according to Marisa Carvalho, of demonstrating that every woman who lives in Cape Verde, whether migrant or national, is important.<\/p>\n

The idea, she pointed out, is for migrant women to learn to \u201cchallenge\u201d institutions to promote and carry out activities they need, as well as for institutions to learn \u201chow we can reach out to them and hold other workshops with other topics\u201d.<\/p>\n
