Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Ana Samira Fonseca Tavares Silva Baessa is the new president of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Cape Verde. Until then, she had been performing the function of Director of the Museums of Cape Verde, also under the tutelage of the IPC, rising, now, to president. Baessa replaces Jair Fernandes, who became Inforpress’s Sole Manager.<\/p>\n

Born in the parish of S\u00e3o Miguel Arcanjo, on the island of Santiago, Ana Samira Baessa graduated in Cultural Heritage Management at the Escola Superior de Educa\u00e7\u00e3o of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (Portugal), and completed a postgraduate course in Heritage, Tourism and Development at the University of Cape Verde \u2013 UNICV.<\/p>\n

During her professional career, she was Coordinator of the Study \u2013 Impacts of Tourism in Cidade Velha between (2009 \u2013 2013), Curator of Cidade Velha World Heritage (2015 \u2013 2016), Coordinator of the Management Plan of Cidade Velha, World Heritage ( 2018-2022).<\/p>\n

In 2019, she was appointed Director of the Museums of Cape Verde under the tutelage of the IPC, where, according to the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, she led projects \u201cstructuring the dynamics of the national museological framework as spaces of knowledge and tourist-cultural offer\u201d.<\/p>\n

Among them, the new Museographic Project of the Tarrafal Concentration Camp, of the House Museum Eug\u00e9nio Tavares, Ilha Brava, the creation of Casa da Morna Sodade, S\u00e3o Nicolau Island, of the new Museographic project of the Museum of the Sea in S\u00e3o Vicente, in the materialization of the Legal framework of the Museums and Museums Network of Cape Verde and the projects nearing completion for the creation of the Museum of Archeology and the Musealisation of Fort Duque de Bragan\u00e7a, both on the island of Boa Vista.<\/p>\n

Baessa is also the focal point for the Margullar 2 project funded by the European Union of the MAC 2014-2020 program which co-finances interventions in the Museum of the Sea, Beach Archeology and Boa Vista and creation of the underwater archaeological park on the island of Boa Vista.<\/p>\n
