Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Dozens of children and young people are taking part today, in Porto Novo, Santo Anta\u0303o, in a street basketball festival in an initiative of Porto Novo Basket, an event that aims to bring this modality to the neighborhoods of this city.<\/p>\n

The person in charge of organizing the festival, Nielvis Rodrigues, said that the purpose is also to publicize basketball and contribute to the popularization of the sport in the municipality of Porto Novo, noting that this event has been held for over ten years.<\/p>\n

This year, the festival, which takes place in one of the squares in the city of Porto Novo, takes place within the scope of the initiative \u201cPorto Novo Cidade Capital Cabo-verdeana da Juventude\u201d.<\/p>\n

The festival consists of holding games in the 3\u00d73 modality, covering different levels, from mini-basketball, to initiatives, under-12, under-14, under-16, under-18 and seniors.<\/p>\n

According to this basketball coach, the festival is already \u201cone of the main sporting events\u201d that take place in the Porto Novo region and that, this year, also marks the twenty-second anniversary of Porto Novo Basket.<\/p>\n

As part of the celebrations of its 22nd anniversary, which began in January, this sports association has already promoted a basketball meeting and is organizing an inter-institutional and professional tournament.<\/p>\n
