Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Regulatory Authority for Social Communication (ARC) decided to archive the processes of complaints filed by the Presidency of the Republic against Television of Cabo Verde, for alleged disrespectful treatment of the President of the Republic.
\nOn January 10, 2023, the Presidency of the Republic filed two complaints against the Board of TCV, for alleged disrespectful treatment to the sovereign body President of the Republic.
\nThe first, for not broadcasting the New Year’s message from the President of the Republic, on TCV, on December 31, 2022 and a second referring to what he considered “discriminatory and disproportionate treatment” of the President of the Republic in the journalistic coverage of the conference ” Public Television \u2013 service and innovation\u201d, within the framework of the 25 years of RTP Africa, whose closure the Head of State presided over.
\n\u201cThere was no discriminatory action\u201d
\nIn the decision dated March 7th, shared by the director of TCV, Ant\u00f3nio Teixeira, the Regulatory Council of ARC considered that there was no discriminatory and disproportionate action on the part of Public Television, in the coverage of the event held within the scope of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of RTP-Africa.
\nAccording to the document, TCV justified the non-coverage of the closing of the conference with the organ’s unavailability to nominate a new journalist to cover the closing act, since the lateness of the hour forced the journalist to return to the studios to prepare the piece for the afternoon paper.
\nRegarding the New Year’s message, the ARC considered that the non-transmission of the same on December 31, as has been the habit, was due to failures in prior coordination between those responsible for the TCV and the Presidency of the Republic, regarding the sending and reception timely release of the video containing said message.
\nFor this very reason, the Regulatory Board decided to archive the processes, with the deliberation having the unanimity of the members of the board.<\/p>\n
