Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Sport, Carlos Monteiro, said on Tuesday that the national football team of Cabo Verde \u201cdignified the name of the country in the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2021).<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio de Cabo Verde (RCV), after the defeat to Senegal (2-0) in the quarter-final qualifying game of CAN 2021, the ruler considered that \u201cdespite the setbacks\u201d Cabo Verde knew how to fight against a \u201cgreat national football team\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been able to put our football on the pitch and dignify the name of the country and Cabo Verdeans can only be proud of our players,\u201d said Carlos Monteiro, who congratulated the footballers and the coaching staff for their \u201cgood\u201d representation in the competition.<\/p>\n

However, he assured that the Government will continue to support all national teams, \u201cdepending on the resources the State put at the disposal of the federations.<\/p>\n
