Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Chief of Staff of Armed Forces, Anto\u0301nio Duarte Monteiro, asserted that the first African Maritime Forces Meeting (AMFS), concluded today in Sal, allowed sharing ideas and initiatives that can be adapted at the national level.<\/p>\n

The symposium, whose work took place over three days, the 20th to the 22nd, in one of the hotels in the tourist town of Santa Maria, came to an end today, under the motto \u201cSafety at sea guarantees stability on land\u201d, whose closing act was presided over by the chief of the General Staff, Rear Admiral Anto\u0301nio Duarte Monteiro.<\/p>\n

Praising the participation and contributions of the leaders of the Maritime Forces of African countries, borrowed in this \u201cgreat event\u201d, Anto\u0301nio Duarte Monteiro noted that it is Cape Verde\u2019s understanding that the threats that, \u201ceventually\u201d, may hover over any country in the sub-region represent , also, a danger to its security, because its global nature, as he explained, is increasingly strong.<\/p>\n

In doing this reading, he clarified that this is the case with cocaine trafficking from South America, which uses the Atlantic and West African regions as transit, also in relation to other threats, namely maritime pollution, the squandering of marine resources, including unregulated fishing, various illicit trafficking and piracy.<\/p>\n
