Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Around 30 women community leaders will be able to \u201cintervene, combat and prevent\u201d situations of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) after completing a training session aimed at legal empowerment, promoted by the Cape Verdean Association for the Fight Against GBV.<\/p>\n

According to the project coordinator, Nair Tavares, this is a pilot project developed in partnership with the ONG Themis, from Brazil, with the support of the Womanity Foundation, whose goal is to empower women in community leadership, providing basic legal concepts so that they can intervene and prevent situations of violence within communities.<\/p>\n

The training, which begins on May 20, comprises two stages and includes various topics covered in modules taught by experts in the field, and after the training, the women should implement a community intervention plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe association\u2019s technical team will provide all the follow-up, monitoring, and evaluation of community leaders, as the plan involves a set of activities developed for adolescents, children, and young people, men and women in various fields, with sessions of conversations, lectures, fun and cultural activities to bring social issues that concern the community,\u201d the coordinator assured.<\/p>\n
