Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The National Directorate for Sea Policies (DNPM) today started the process of drawing up the first phase of the National Strategy for the Sea 2023-2033 and the respective action plan. This first phase begins with a diagnosis of the current situation in the maritime sector.<\/p>\n

According to the DNPM, quoted by Inforpress, the diagnosis that will be made will result from the collection of information from the different entities in the sector.<\/p>\n

This information will serve as a basis for formulating strategic options for the sea.<\/p>\n

DNPM requests collaboration from other entities<\/p>\n

The DNPM requests the \u201cprofitable collaboration\u201d of the different entities so that a plan can be drawn up together that enhances the contribution of the sea to the country\u2019s economy and \u201cthe prosperity and well-being\u201d of all Cape Verdeans .<\/p>\n

The idea is also to have a plan that responds to the \u201cmajor challenges\u201d of the decade, \u201creinforcing Cape Verde’s position and visibility\u201d in the Atlantic and in the world, as a \u201chistorically and geographically maritime nation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Gradual transition to the Blue Economy<\/p>\n

The DNPM also recalls that the Government Program of the 10th legislature reaffirms the importance of the sea and the maritime economy sector as \u201cone of the fundamental pillars\u201d to build a circulation economy and a gradual transition to the Blue Economy.<\/p>\n

This option, continues the same source, is in line with the aims of the proclamation of the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development from 2021 to 2030 and with the commitments of the 2030 Agenda, with particular emphasis on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 14 , focused on the protection of marine life, namely on the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean, seas and marine resources.<\/p>\n
