Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The vice-president of UCID, Aldirley Gomes, criticized today, in Sal, the situation of \u201cincreasing precariousness\u201d faced by hotel workers, while the government announces \u201cvigorously\u201d the resumption of tourism and new investments.<\/p>\n

The local leader of the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID) made these criticisms during a press conference called to address job insecurity on the island, with a focus on the tourism sector, as the celebrations of Workers\u2019 Day approach, marked on May 1st.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith so much abundance announced, the situation of increasing precariousness faced by hotel workers stands out. Precarious contracts and salaries, always delayed, non-payment of Social Security contributions, high frequency of moral and sexual harassment,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cRetaliation against workers en masse, while on the other hand, we witness the complete omission of government institutions,\u201d he added, emphasizing that workers are the foundation that sustains \u201cthis entire system of multimillion-dollar profits.\u201d<\/p>\n
