Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Movement for Democracy (MpD-ruling party) stated that Cape Verde now has a Government that has given centrality to its diaspora, implementing a set of measures to address the main concerns of the emigrated communities.<\/p>\n

This viewpoint was defended by MP Jaime Monteiro, in his opening speech during the monthly debate with the Prime Minister on \u201cDiaspora and Development\u201d.<\/p>\n

This parliamentarian pointed out the improvement in the integration of Cape Verdean communities in the countries where they live, particularly in Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, and Angola, through \u201cassertive diplomacy\u201d, as well as the doubling of the value of pensions granted to vulnerable emigrated communities in Sao Tome and Principe, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal, support for young people in the diaspora to access higher education, professional training, and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot forget that in the historical journey of the Cape Verdean diaspora, it was MpD that had the political will 30 years ago to make the emigrated Cape Verdean a citizen with full rights, including political citizenship that allowed them to be elected and to vote in legislative and presidential elections,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
