Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Portugal\u2019s ambassador in Cabo Verde, Paulo Lourenc\u0327o, said today in Praia that it is necessary to reinforce the factual journalism to combat the \u201cpandemic\u201d of misinformation.<\/p>\n

The diplomat stated this statement at the opening of the conference alluding to the commemoration of Press Freedom Day, under the slogan \u201cShaping a future of rights \u2013 freedom of expression as the engine of all other human rights\u201d, held by the Association of Cape Verdean Journalists (AJOC).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to strengthen factual, rigorous and ethical journalism, based on news and verification, which is unanimously considered as the antidote to this pandemic of disinformation by the frantic circulation of information by digital platforms,\u201d he specified.<\/p>\n

According to Paulo Lourenc\u0327o, this \u201cmission is vital\u201d for social cohesion and to stop the setback, which some consider \u201cunprecedented\u201d, in terms of the guarantee of human rights.<\/p>\n
