Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Business Development, Olavo Correia, asked for greater speed in responses to the heads of the National Institute of Social Security (INPS). Olavo Correia made these observations during the workshop \u201cThe look at pensions\u201d, which took place yesterday, May 8th, within the framework of World Pensions Day, in Praia.<\/p>\n

The minister recognized the work advocated by this institute but listed that there are still many challenges, among them, that there must be \u201ca maximum level of excellence in the quality of services\u201d that this institution provides, with a view to providing greater responsiveness and consequent reduction complaints and delays harmful to citizens.<\/p>\n

Olavo Correia also reminded those present that the INPS is an institution focused on providing social services in terms of access to rights by taxpayers and that it must continue to work to improve the quality of services in a \u201cstable, solid and respectable\u201d way, protecting people.<\/p>\n

Very interesting level of pensions \u2013 PCE INPS<\/p>\n

In turn, the President of the Executive Committee of the INPS, Ma\u0301rio Fernandes, said that the most relevant issues with regard to social security are the coverage rate of 55% of the resident population and 65% of the employed population, and that pensions are on a \u201cquite interesting\u201d level.<\/p>\n

In this sense, the big challenge now is, as he pointed out, \u201cincreasing coverage\u201d, so that everyone can be \u201cprotected by social security\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his view, pensions should be considered from the day one starts working and planning one’s life, following one’s contributory situation, so that there are no surprises at the time of retirement.<\/p>\n

The event, which also featured the presentation of four debate panels, brought together personalities from this sector to discuss and learn more about the advances, weaknesses and improvements in this matter in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

This, at a time when there was an increase of 77% in beneficiaries in 2020, and the objective now is to increase coverage and promote the inclusion of all.<\/p>\n
