Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Journalists\u2019 Trade Unions Association of Cabo Verde (AJOC) is holding a peaceful demonstration next Friday, in front of the Attorney General\u2019s Office in the city of Praia, against attacks on journalists and freedom of the press in Cabo Verde.<\/p>\n

The call of the AJOC\u2019s national board is extended to journalists and friends of journalists, in order to stay together on Friday with the journalist from the A Na\u00e7\u00e3o newspaper Daniel Almeida who, together with this newspaper, were constituted defendants by the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office, having been served by the Attorney General\u2019s Office to be heard.<\/p>\n

AJOC states in its call that this order by the Attorney General\u2019s Office comes after the Online Santiago Magazine and journalist Herm\u00ednio Silves were also constituted defendants.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is necessary to give a stop \u2026 today are these, but tomorrow may be others!\u201d highlighted the AJOC in this letter, urging the participation of all, dressed in black T-shirts, from 2:30PM, in front of the Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Before Daniel Almeida and A Na\u00e7\u00e3o Newspaper, journalist Herm\u00ednio Silves and the online newspaper Santiago Magazine were constituted defendants and accused of a crime of disobedience, in the investigation process on crime of breach of judicial secrecy opened by the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office\u201d, in the Zezito Denti D\u2019Oru case.<\/p>\n

At issue is the publication on December 28 of last year, by the online newspaper Santiago Magazine, of the news entitled \u201cDrug trafficking Public Prosecutor investigates Minister Paulo Rocha for murder\u201d which reported that the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office is investigating the Minister of Internal Affairs, Paulo Rocha, for murder.<\/p>\n
