Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the Alt Bomba Unid Community Association, Aldevino Fortes, told Inforpress today that only three of the 60 families in the Monte Sossego area, in Sa\u0303o Vicente, joined the Community Virtual Exchange project.<\/p>\n

According to the associative leader, the Community Virtual Exchange is a project created in partnership with the SOS Children\u2019s Villages and consists of a virtual social store through which families request materials for housing improvement and in exchange offer services, goods and products, without the need to use money.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the families we work with are short of building materials, bricks, cement, sand, toilets or anything else they need in their homes, they come to us with a proposal, they can budget for the materials at some drugstore, and we mobilise these materials and the families offer other products or services in exchange,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

According to Aldevino Fortes, if families are unable to offer a utensil to pay for the materials offered, they have to provide services in companies or in homes as day labourers. The value of the service, he said, will be paid directly to the association to feed the fund for acquiring new materials to help other households.<\/p>\n
