Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Sea, Abra\u00e3o Vicente, defended this Tuesday in the city of Praia a \u201cradical change\u201d of paradigm in the management of fisheries, which involves the financing not only of fishermen, but also by the empowerment of shipowners.<\/p>\n

Abra\u00e3o Vicente spoke to the press, on the sidelines of a meeting with the shipowners in the fishing pier of Praia, who presented a set of challenges that will address the need for greater funding for this class.<\/p>\n

This change should, according to the Minsiter, move from the idea of full support or subsidization to a cooperation in the face of aid or empowerment of the sector, financing not only fishermen, but also going through a phase of empowerment of shipowners.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut there are also complaints about the need for training here in Santiago Island, there is a need to have a dragger that allows to remove boats from the sea and repair on land. The shipowners in Santiago Island think that because of its size and its strength, its contribution, justifies there is also a dragger in Praia with the dimension to reduce the costs of what is usually paid in island of S\u00e3o Vicente for repair. But I think the main focus is about financing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
