Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The National Institute of Statistics (INE) announced today that imports decreased by 2.6% and exports had an increase of 32.3% in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022<\/p>\n

The External Trade Statistics for the second quarter of 2023 released by INE also point to a decrease in re-exports by 32.4%, compared to the 2nd quarter in 2022, a deficit in the trade balance with a decrease of 4.5% and growth in the rate coverage by 19 percentage points (p.p.).<\/p>\n

The external trade data compiled by INE show that, in the second quarter of 2023, Cape Verde\u2019s exports totalled PTE 1,687 million, corresponding to an increase of PTE 411 thousand (32.3%) compared to the same month last year.<\/p>\n

In the period under review, Europe remains Cabo Verde\u2019s main customer, absorbing about 93.6% of total exports, with Spain remaining the main customer in the European economic area, representing 53.8% of total exports in the 2nd quarter of 2023, compared to the same quarter of 2022.<\/p>\n
