Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz, met, separately, on the 11th and 12th of September, with all the teachers’ unions, namely the National Teachers’ Union (SINDEP), the Democratic Teachers’ Union (SINDPROF) and the Teachers’ Union of Santiago Island (SIPROFIS), as part of the start of the new academic year.<\/p>\n

The three meetings, according to a note from the Ministry, were promoted to \u201callow the unions to find out\u201d about the preparations for the 2023\/2024 school year, especially the human resources management processes (transfers and placement of new teachers), pedagogical management, rehabilitation of educational infrastructures, school manuals and the School Social Action Program.<\/p>\n

Still during the meetings, according to the same source, issues related to the management of teachers’ careers were addressed, namely the resolution of pending issues among the teaching class regarding reclassifications, granting of subsidies for non-reduction of working hours, transition and promotion, retirement of teachers, as well as the revision of the Teaching Staff Career Statute.<\/p>\n

ME reaffirms commitment to resolving teacher issues<\/p>\n

The Minister of Education took the opportunity to \u201creaffirm\u201d the Government\u2019s commitment to \u201cresolving the outstanding issues\u201d of teachers, \u201chonoring the commitments made\u201d with the unions and the teaching class, in \u201cdepending on the availability of public finances, taking into account takes into account the constraints imposed by the national and international economic situation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Amadeu Cruz left the guarantee that the reclassification process would be completed by the end of the year, \u201caccording to the schedule agreed with the unions\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Minister in charge stated that \u201cthe Government is working\u201d to mobilize resources to resolve other issues facing the teaching class, as part of the preparation of the next State Budget.<\/p>\n

Amadeu Cruz showed the Government’s \u201ctotal willingness\u201d to continue and reinforce the \u201cfrank, sincere dialogue with the teachers’ unions\u201d, with a view to building convergences with all unions, aiming to stabilize and further enhance teachers’ careers.<\/p>\n
