Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Environment and Sustainable Development Association (Terrimar) recorded, during the months of July and August, 1,261 turtle nests throughout the island of Santo Anta\u0303o, as part of the campaign to protect sea turtles.<\/p>\n

The data released today by Terrimar also says that, in July, 324 nests, 839 tracks and one capture were identified, while in August 937 nests and 1,852 tracks and one capture were recorded.<\/p>\n

The sea turtle conservation program on the island of Santo Anta\u0303o, which began in June, will continue until October, being marked by the prospecting of beaches to identify nests and tracks of this endangered species.<\/p>\n

The campaign covers the beaches of Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Cruzinha, Costa do Norte and Costa Sul, as well as the city of Porto Novo.<\/p>\n
