Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Cape Verdean sailor Wesley Brito won, last weekend, the title of Wing Foil world champion in the event discipline. The race is organized by GWA and takes place in Dakhla, Morocco.<\/p>\n

Wesley Brito, a young man from the island of Sa\u0303o Vicente, residing in Boa Vista, where he discovered his vocation for Wing Foil, scored the necessary points in Moroccan lands to overcome the competition and win the world title for Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

“He managed! After winning his heat in the quarter-finals, Wesley Brito became the GWA Wing Foil Wave 2023 World Champion! It all came down to his last wave, where he didn’t hesitate to go all in. Congratulations!\u201d, writes the organization on its official page, cited by Inforpress.<\/p>\n

The Creole sailor scored the highest number of points in this race held over several world circuits, to win the world title, relegating the Frenchman Benoi\u0302t Carpentier to vice, the North American Zane Schweitzer to third place and the Frenchman Hugo Marin to the fourth place.<\/p>\n

Wesley Brito’s feat began to be built in March of the current year, during the first stage held in Ponta Preta, in Santa Maria (Sal Island), where he won the I Stage of the Wing Foil World Tour Cabo Verde 2023 (World Championship of Wing-Foil) after beating Frenchman Benoit Carpentier in the final.<\/p>\n

Realization of a dream<\/p>\n

In his first reaction to the world title, Wesley Brito told the specialized press that \u201cthe casual battle in the waves was a dream come true\u201d and that he was delighted to win the title of world champion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me in wing foiling, so I’m feeling really, really good,\u201d said Brito.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always wanted to compete in the waves and this year I decided to separate the waves from the freestyle. Where I live there are only waves, so I was really looking forward to this chance,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
