Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The City Councils of Sa\u0303o Filipe and Santa Catarina do Fogo today welcomed the declaration of a state of calamity in the two municipalities and the activation of the Emergency Fund to repair the damage caused by the rains.<\/p>\n

The mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo, Alberto Nunes, said he believed that work on repairing the damage caused by the rains would resume soon. He recalled that following the damage, his municipality made a quantitative survey and a budget that was submitted to the government, which, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, analysed the budget and activated the Emergency Fund.<\/p>\n

The municipality of Santa Catarina will receive 22,000 escudos as part of the plan of interventions to be carried out, and hopes that with the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette (BO) it will be able to sign contracts and carry out the interventions to restore normality.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect a lower amount, but it may not be enough and I believe that if it is not possible with the resources available we will request more resources\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
