Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The company Cabo Verde Interilhas informed, in a statement, that it will update the tariff for the transport of goods between islands, with an average increase of 25 percent (%) from October 1st.<\/p>\n

According to CV Interilhas, the need for this update is related to the socio-economic context of the current tariff not reflecting the reality of the market, being completely out of adjustment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to note that the change in the tariff will be in accordance with the maximum legal limits approved in Ordinance No. 19\/2006 of August 14, values \u200b\u200bthat are more than 17 years old without updates, and which will represent an increase on average of 25 % on the values \u200b\u200bpracticed today\u201d, reads the statement.<\/p>\n

Tariff update value will \u201cguarantee an efficient and quality service\u201d<\/p>\n

The company also stated that since the date of the addendum to the concession contract for maritime cargo and passenger transport, last April, and taking into account total transparency with the Government of Cape Verde, it has been considering and proposing a value update of cargo tariffs to guarantee an efficient and quality service.<\/p>\n

By government decision, he recalled, the update was suspended in April and subjected to an impact study by the competent State bodies, with compensation mechanisms being foreseen if the assumptions are not met.<\/p>\n

\u201cFulfilling the purpose of total transparency, before the Government and all Cape Verdeans, and in line with the ongoing discussions within the scope of the impact study at the National Directorate for Maritime Policies (DNPM), the decision of CV Interilhas of implementing the new tariff, as of today, represents a path to getting closer to the model proposed in April 2023\u201d, explained CV Interilhas.<\/p>\n

The company also considers that this \u201caverage update of 25% to current values \u200b\u200bis critical to guarantee the sustainability of the passenger and cargo maritime transport service in Cape Verde\u201d.<\/p>\n
