Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The social worker and focal point for the Health of the Elderly at the Tira Chape\u0301u Health Centre today called on the population of Praia, especially family members, friends and acquaintances, to pay \u201cmore attention\u201d to the elderly who live alone at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main problem faced by the elderly in city of Praia is that many of them are living alone at home and they often get this issue off their chest at consultations,\u201d Dulcelina Cardoso told the press during the opening ceremony of the intellectual and educational activity aimed at the elderly in Praia to commemorate International Day of the Elderly, which is celebrated annually on 1st October.<\/p>\n

In this regard, she took the opportunity to appeal to family members, friends and acquaintances to give more affection, love and care to the elderly, because, as she explained, loneliness \u201cgreatly affects their mental health\u201d.<\/p>\n
