Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Brava artist Vuca Pinheiro releases two albums dedicated to Brava Island in the United States of America (USA), with new songs and two re-recordings, on October 21, 2023.<\/p>\n

Vuca Pinheiro releases two albums dedicated to Brava Islan On the first CD \u201cIlha Brava Ilha Formosa\u201d, the singer, composer and instrumentalist brings together 11 singers to give voice to several new songs, including \u201cHino Bravense\u201d written by Eug\u00e9nio Tavares. In the theme \u201cDjabraba Ilha Formosa\u201d, which gave the name to the CD, Vuca Pinheiro calls on the people of Brava to proclaim the cultural specificities and natural beauty of the island that saw him born.<\/p>\n

\u201cRescuing the memory of Brava has always been one of the goals I set for my journey within the Cape Verdean musical path, since the release of my first album in 1985, exclusively by Mornas Bravo until today\u201d, explained the artist .<\/p>\n

The CD also includes songs such as \u201cFlorzinhas de Cantero\u201d, \u201cN B\u00e1 Cutelo ‘Spiabo\u201d, \u201cDjabraba Ilha Formosa\u201d, \u201cRainha\u201d, \u201cN Crebo Cum\u00e2 Bo Cr\u00ea’m\u201d, \u201cMarcha da Velha Guarda\u201d, \u201cBu ‘Sta Dixam Mi S\u00f3\u201d, \u201cCatchor Ca Ta Mord\u00ea Lua\u201d, \u201cNha Princesa\u201d, \u201cTroca Par\u201d, \u201cMorna Frank Martins\u201d and \u201cTitinha\u201d<\/p>\n

The second album called \u201cBandolins da Ilha Brava\u201d, in which Vuca Pinheiro plays mandolin, violin, acoustic guitar and percussion, accompanied by Djick Oliveira, on guitar, and Pulan Miranda, on 12-string viola, is composed of nine songs, including \u201cMorna Nin\u00ed Alfama\u201d, \u201cCombersa Co Lua\u201d, \u201cFedagosa\u201d, \u201cBai de Djabraba\u201d \u201cNh\u00f4 Gobernador\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to Vuca Pinheiro, after successive albums released, \u201calways privileging Bravo and Cape Verdean culture\u201d, he \u201ccould not fail to reissue one of the facets of the Bravese music scene, very little cultivated on the other islands, which is mandolin solos \u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this recording, with the aim of catapulting our ears back to a certain era of Brazilian music, I basically tried to interpret the same songs that were played at that time on this wonderful and sui generis instrument, always seeking to maintain and preserve the genuine form of musical interpretation of those times. \u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

He added that the mandolin solo and the accompaniment of guitar and viola plus the violin and very light percussion also had the purpose of \u201cbringing this beautiful golden age of Brava culture\u201d to the present day.<\/p>\n

To record the two albums, Vuca Pinheiro had artists such as Armando de Pina, Jo\u00e3o Alfredo (F\u00e9fe), Coral Bravense (formed by Angela Pesare, Lica Gomes and Lucy Fonseca), F\u00e1tima \u00c9vora, Samuel Santiago, Djuta Duarte, Tiffany Enos and Sandra Andrade.<\/p>\n

It also featured the collaboration of instrumentalists such as NhelaSax, Z\u00e9 Timas, Danny Carvalho, Samuel Santiago, Zez\u00e9 Barbosa, Djim Job, Kal\u00fa Monteiro, Tony Azevedo, Ney Miranda, Djick Oliveira and Pulan Miranda.<\/p>\n
