Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Cape Verdean artist Lizandro Cuxi won the award for Best Artist from Lusophone Africa at the Trace Awards 2023, in a ceremony that took place on Saturday night, 21st, in Kigali, Rwanda, and had three Cape Verdeans nominated in different categories.<\/p>\n

\nIn the category of Best Artist from Lusophone Africa, the Cape Verdean artist residing in Europe was nominated in a list with Plut\u00f3nio (Mozambique), sister Soraia Ramos, nominated in three categories, Gerilson Insrael (Angola) and P\u00e9rola (Angola).<\/p>\n

According to the list of nominees and winners, in this first edition, Rema, with the awards for Song of the Year \u201cCalm Down\u201d and Best Global African Artist, and Davido (Nigeria) who also won two awards, Best Male Artist and Best Collaboration with \u201cUnavailable\u201d, were the main winners.<\/p>\n

Cape Verdean Soraia Ramos was also nominated for the Song of the Year award with \u201cBKBN\u201d, along with \u201cPeople\u201d by Libianca (Cameroon), \u201cSuavemente\u201d by Soolking (France), \u201cEncre\u201d by Emma’a (Gabon) , \u201cSugarcane\u201d by Camidoh (Ghana), \u201cLast Last\u201d by Burna Boy (Nigeria), \u201cRush\u201d by Ayra Starr (Nigeria), \u201cPeru\u201d by Fireboy DML (Nigeria) featuring Ed Sheeran (United Kingdom), \u201cSeven \u201d by KO (South Africa), \u201cCough\u201d by Kizz Daniel (Nigeria), \u201cMORTEL 06\u201d by Innoss’B (DRC) and the winner \u201cCalm Down\u201d by Rema (Nigeria).<\/p>\n

Soraia Ramos, resident in Portugal, was also nominated for Best Female Artist, alongside Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Josey (Ivory Coast), Nadia Mukami (Kenya), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria) and winner Viviane Chidid (Senegal) .<\/p>\n

From Cape Verde, Danni Gato was still nominated for Best DJ, who competed with DJ BDK (Ivory Coast), DJ Illans (France), DJ Spinall (Nigeria), Tio Waffles (Swaziland) and the winner Michael Brun ( Haiti).<\/p>\n

In this first edition of the Trace Awards 2023, there were 22 categories and more than 150 artists nominated at the awards ceremony, Nigerian Burna Boy won Album of the Year with \u201cLove Damini\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Trace Awards is a new award ceremony created by Trace, a global television and multimedia platform, with the aim of recognizing African and Afro-influenced musicians from Africa and the African diasporas.<\/p>\n
