Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Cape Verdean commercial banks had more than 230 thousand bank accounts in 2022 that used the ‘internet banking’ service, the Central Bank announced today, noting that customers in the archipelago are \u201cmore adept\u201d at digital channels.<\/p>\n

\nIn its Payment System Report, the Bank of Cape Verde (BCV) found that last year the ‘internet banking’ channel (a digital platform that allows customers to access various banking services) registered 200,693 private accounts and 29,648 company accounts, with increases of 19.1% and 32.5%, respectively.<\/p>\n

According to the banking regulator, Cape Verdeans are \u201cmore adept\u201d at digital channels, where they carried out 3,675,969 operations, worth 99.7 billion escudos (904 million euros), compared to transfers and checks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was an increase of 20.9% in quantity and 50.9% in value, when compared to operations carried out through ‘internet banking’ in the previous year\u201d, said the BCV, which also highlighted the \u201cgood dynamics\u201d of payments in e-commerce.<\/p>\n

Last year, national websites registered 182,528 operations, representing an increase of 121.9% compared to the entire year 2021.<\/p>\n

In turn, on international websites, the increase was 17.7%, in a total of 305,045 operations carried out, according to the same source.<\/p>\n

In its annual report, Banco de Cabo Verde also stated that 6,561,895 retail operations were carried out, an increase of 21.2%, when compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

According to the regulator, Cape Verdeans continued to show preference for the card, which was used in 44,875,011 transactions (86.7%), on the vinti4 network, mostly in TPA (automatic payment terminals), which registered 27,958 ,392 operations (62%).<\/p>\n

The automatic payment network (vinti4) consisted of 10,752 payment terminals, including 212 automatic teller machines (ATM) and 10,540 automatic payment terminals (POS).<\/p>\n
