Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Transportes Ae\u0301reos de Cabo Verde (TACV) told the Lusa agency today that it will not return to domestic flights, clarifying that it has only made a few seats available on the Praia-Sal flight, which leaves Lisbon, to make the operation profitable.<\/p>\n

\u201cTACV has not returned to domestic flights\u201d, replied the company, after being questioned by Lusa about this possibility reported by several media outlets in the country and after announcing a route between Praia and Sal on its official pages.<\/p>\n

In its responses, TACV, commercially known as Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA), stated that it had made some seats available on the Praia-Sal route to optimize operations on Friday’s flight, which leaves Lisbon, bound for the island of Sal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same happens on Sunday when we have Lisbon\/Praia flights, via Sal\u201d, continued the company, emphasizing that domestic operations are in charge of Transportes Interilhas de Cabo Verde (TICV).<\/p>\n

The company also guaranteed that its business plan has not defined a return to domestic operations in Cape Verde, and that the company’s devices are intended for international flights.<\/p>\n

At the moment, the company only makes international connections with Lisbon and announced that from November 4th it will start flying to Bergamo (Italy).<\/p>\n

The company also plans to resume flights to Bissau, as well as opening connections to Paris, the USA (Boston) and Brazil.<\/p>\n

In March 2019, the State of Cape Verde sold 51% of TACV, for 1.3 million euros, to the Icelandic company Lofleidir Cabo Verde, together with businesspeople from that country.<\/p>\n

Following the company’s shutdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cape Verdean State resumed that position in TACV in July 2021, alleging several breaches in management, immediately dissolving the corporate bodies.<\/p>\n

Domestic air links between seven of the islands in the archipelago have been operated for several years by a single company, currently the Angolan company BestFly, which bought the majority of the capital of TICV, previously owned by the Spanish company Binter.<\/p>\n
