Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The representative of the PAICV Nation (opposition) elected by the Santo Anta\u0303o Rosa Rocha constituency today urged the Government to create the conditions so that the water retained by the Canto Cagarra dam \u201cis accessible to farmers\u201d.<\/p>\n

The parliamentarian once again asked the Government \u201cto stop sabotaging\u201d the Canto de Cagarra dam, in the Garc\u0327a valley, in Ribeira Grande, and to \u201ccreate the necessary conditions\u201d so that this water \u201cis accessible to farmers\u201d.<\/p>\n

In any case, the parliamentarian said that \u201cthe impact of the dam on the increase in the flow of the old spring, which is located at the dam site, as well as on the sub-surface runoff water that has been feeding the new wells downstream of the dam, is indisputable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Canto de Cagarra dam cost around 575 thousand contos, financing mobilized under the credit line with Portugal.<\/p>\n

It has a reservoir that holds a volume of 418 thousand cubic meters of water, covering an area of \u200b\u200b84 thousand square meters.<\/p>\n
