At a press conference, Emanuel Landim explained that on the 23rd, the Movement for Democracy (MpD) bench received a call from the Tarrafal Municipal Assembly regarding the scheduling of an extraordinary session requested by the mayor, Jos\u00e9 dos Reis.<\/p>\n

The extraordinary session, according to him, will be on Monday, 27th, and its only agenda item is the authorization for the city council, managed by the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), to go to the bank to take out a loan worth 280 thousand contos.<\/p>\n

He further explained that in August of this year, the Assembly had already approved another loan authorization, requested by the City Council, from the Stock Exchange and whose amount was 280 thousand contos.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything suggests that this unexpected initiative emerged overnight, without any in-depth analysis of the financial situation of the municipality, which, as we know, is fragile due to the damaging management that has been taking place at the Tarrafal Municipal Council, where the main actor is Jos\u00e9 dos Reis\u201d, he assured.<\/p>\n

The MpD also argued about the possibility of executing such a large amount of money in less than nine months, taking into account that the electoral law establishes a deadline for the execution of contracts, works and inauguration during the electoral period.<\/p>\n
