The president of the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), Marisa Carvalho, made these considerations to the press, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the second edition of the National Gender Forum, with the motto \u201cGeneration Equality\u201d, which started this Friday, lasting until this Saturday, the 25th, in the City of Praia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe intend to open the 16 days of activism, which begin tomorrow [Saturday, 25], but we bring forward the forum, so that, really for 16 days, we can flood the country with an orange wave, as is the intention of the United Nations, to for two days to reflect on the challenges that unfortunately we still face, not only at a global level, but also at the level of Cape Verde, the issues regarding GBV, and new challenges that we are facing\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

He also said that ICIEG carried out awareness-raising activities throughout the year in secondary schools on the different islands of the country and in partnership with the National Data Protection Commission, warning about this crime and that it is punishable by law.<\/p>\n
