Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the board of directors of NOSI said this Wednesday that the institution wants to make Cape Verde a \u201ctruly digital\u201d country to help it unify its economy and access equality of circumstances.<\/p>\n

This intention was expressed by Carlos Pina during the opening ceremony of the international digital governance conference \u201ce-Gov International Summit\u201d, as part of the celebration of its 25th anniversary of the Operational Center for the Information Society (NOSI), which aims to promote a reflection on digital governance in light of new technological trends, which took place today, in the City of Praia.<\/p>\n

The person in charge asserted that stronger engagement and interaction with universities, associations, companies and society is necessary, to create the \u201cdigital mentality\u201d, so that Cape Verde can be a \u201ctruly digital\u201d country.<\/p>\n

Along these lines, he explained that Cape Verde is an archipelagic country and that this helps a lot in unifying the economy and accessing equality of circumstances.<\/p>\n

This international conference, according to the same source, serves as a space for reflection on the challenge of digital transformation, in which some topics will be debated, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe held this conference to reflect on the past, to look to the future with what are the major trends in the world today, with these themes\u201d, declared Carlos Pina, who highlighted that the intention is also to \u201cwork hard\u201d on digital literacy.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he pointed out that despite \u201cconsiderable gains\u201d in terms of digital transformation, NOSI has the challenge of continuing with responsibility in consolidating the new ecosystem with public and private \u201cplayers\u201d in its way of acting.<\/p>\n

He also added cybersecurity as another challenge, highlighting that in this area NOSI is 100% secure and has a \u201cvery good back-up\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cNOSI has the responsibility to ensure that private companies can provide services to the state on equal terms, but it must guarantee cybersecurity, resilient infrastructures, interoperability, responsibility for innovation\u201d, stated Carlos Pina.<\/p>\n

The Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Pedro Lopes, who presided over the opening of the event, stated, for his part, that the Government wants digital to be the country’s \u201cengine of development\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that a small, archipelagic country like Cape Verde, with many talents, has this opportunity to stand out through digital and we want to be a reference in our sub-region\u201d, he said, guaranteeing that the Government will continue to invest in digital for the development of the country.<\/p>\n

Pedro Lopes also took the opportunity to congratulate NOSI and the contribution of its employees on its 25th anniversary, praising everyone’s encouragement to increase the country’s development in the digital area.<\/p>\n
