Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Government of Cape Verde signed today, on the island of Sal, a memorandum of understanding with one of the largest travel groups in Latin America, CVC Brasil, to resume air connections between the two countries.The document was initialed by the president of the Cape Verde Tourism Institute (ITCV), Humberto L\u00e9lis, by the president of Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA), Sara Pires, and by the representative of CVC Brasil, F\u00e1bio Mader, and foresees the resumption of air connections with Brazil next year, after being suspended before the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great challenge that we embrace with great commitment, and we have a great partner here in Cabo Verde Airlines, which is CVC, which in the past helped us to enter the Brazilian market and transporting Brazilians to Cape Verde\u201d, stated Sara Pires, also intending to promote tourism and trade with that South American country.<\/p>\n

The airline has international connections with Lisbon (Portugal), Paris (France) and Bergamo (Italy) and in addition to Brazil, it also plans to resume flights to Bissau, as well as opening connections to Boston (United States).<\/p>\n

In March 2019, the State of Cape Verde sold 51% of TACV, whose commercial name is CVA, for 1.3 million euros, to the Icelandic company Lofleidir Cabo Verde, together with businesspeople from that country.<\/p>\n

Following the company’s shutdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cape Verdean State resumed that position in TACV in July 2021, alleging several breaches in management, immediately dissolving the corporate bodies.<\/p>\n

CVC Corp is one of the largest travel groups in Latin America, with brands operating in Brazil, Argentina and the United States, in the vacation and leisure, corporate\/business, education (cultural exchange abroad), management and residence rental segments. .<\/p>\n

The company has been launching trends and expanding its range of tourist products and services, to the point that it is today the leading travel company preferred by Brazilian consumers and the most valuable tourism brand in Brazil.<\/p>\n

The representative of CVC Brasil, F\u00e1bio Mader, said that Cape Verde is a \u201cgreat option\u201d for Brazil, understanding that the agreement will allow Brazilians to travel to the African archipelago again.<\/p>\n

The person in charge recalled that the Brazilians \u201cdiscovered\u201d the archipelago a \u201clittle bit \u201d before the covid-19 pandemic, through direct CVA flights, and now the objective is to \u201cwork hard\u201d for the recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no doubt that Brazilians want to be here\u201d, he assured, considering that the Cape Verdean market is \u201c very promising\u201d, with important factors such as location, same language and the fact that they are islands.<\/p>\n

The president of ITCV, Humberto L\u00e9lis, also does not hide his satisfaction, stressing that Cape Verde’s objective is to \u201crevitalize\u201d the Brazil, an issuing market with \u201cextraordinary potential\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cExpectations are high. Brazil fits perfectly into what could be a solution for diversifying tourist-sending markets for Cape Verde\u201d, commented the leader, in an event attended by the Cape Verdean Minister of Tourism and Transport, Carlos Santos.<\/p>\n

Tourism in Cape Verde grew 481.5% in 2022, a recovery after Covid-19, having registered 785,272 visitors, according to official data from the sector, which represents around 25% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).<\/p>\n
