Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the PAICV bench (opposition) in the Municipal Assembly of May, Jovino Gomes, considered this Monday, 8th, that the state of the municipal slaughterhouse is \u201cworrying\u201d and called for its rapid rehabilitation.This concern was expressed by Jovino Gomes, speaking to Inforpress, who considered that the situation in which this building is located is endangering the public health of the people of May.<\/p>\n

The leader of the opposition bench in the municipal assembly called the situation in that space a \u201ccalamity\u201d and said that he had already expressed this concern to the councilor responsible for the area, asking for speed in this intervention, as it has been included in successive budgets of this council team, but nothing has been done so far.<\/p>\n

He argued that on an island like Maio, where there was a tradition of working animal skin, transforming it into leather for the production of drums, it could be possible to take advantage of this material and thus create local products, with sufficient training in this area for young people who enjoy this type of work, rather than throwing everything away.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, he highlighted that the building is deteriorating and has not been cleaned as required by hygiene rules in spaces of this nature, which, he argued, is putting public health at risk, since every week cattle are slaughtered without the necessary conditions.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the municipal budget includes intervention in the municipal slaughterhouse.<\/p>\n
