Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Liceu Olavo Moniz Day, in Sal, marked today, is celebrated with cultural moments and the launch of the second phase of the campaign against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) under the motto \u201cDess mente ka ta sei violence\u201d.<\/p>\n

Students from Escola Ba\u0301sica e Secunda\u0301ria Olavo Moniz (EBSOM) celebrate the school’s 36th anniversary with various cultural activities, including music and dance, taking place at Pedonal Toy Pedro, in the center of Preguic\u0327a, from 3:00 pm.<\/p>\n

The high school director, Lui\u0301sa Grac\u0327a explained that carrying out activities in this space aims to bring the school closer to the community, promoting engagement and exchange of experiences, an \u201cimportant factor\u201d in social development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking on building a positive relationship with the community is very important for the development of the school and the students themselves\u201d, highlighted the person in charge.<\/p>\n

The commemoration of the anniversary is also being used to launch the second phase of the campaign against GBV.<\/p>\n

According to Carla Presa, mentor of the project, whose motto is \u201cDess mente ka ta sei violence \u2013 uvi amor\u201d (From this mind violence does not come out, in Portuguese), the initiative aims to combat GBV, and, in an \u201cinnovative way \u201d, change \u201csome awareness, some attitude\u201d in relation to this problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd for this we use a set of tools, communication languages \u200b\u200bthat are not usual to explain certain subjects, namely music, visual arts, dance, among other means\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

This is the second phase of the project, the first, according to Carla Presa, took place in 2015, in which the campaign motto was \u201cNo violence comes from this hand\u201d, carried out, she explained, following a \u201cvery strong\u201d intervention by Instituto Cabo -Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) candidate at Liceu Olavo Moniz, after which the campaign began.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a photographic campaign, using the Facebook platform, where we took a selfie with a heart in our hand, saying that violence does not come from this hand. It was very focused on physical violence\u201d, said the teacher, adding that this second phase of the campaign is more comprehensive, focused on various types of violence, especially dating violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich is something that directly affects our students, and I think it is going very well\u201d, he considered.<\/p>\n

The patron of the Espargos high school, named Olavo Lopes da Silva Moniz, was born on August 16, 1918, in Ribeira Brava, Sa\u0303o Nicolau, and died in Sa\u0303o Vicente, in 1983.<\/p>\n

He came to Sal at the invitation of Ramiro Alves Figueira, then director of the Externato at Sal Airport.<\/p>\n

As he was acting as director of the airport, on a replacement basis, and with the Externato growing day by day, Ramiro had the \u201chappy idea\u201d of inviting the \u201cillustrious professor\u201d to come and teach and direct the school.<\/p>\n

It was made official from the 1974 \u2013 1975 academic year and would be renamed Liceu do Sal, a section of the Liceu de Sa\u0303o Vicente.<\/p>\n

It is said that Olavo Moniz did not have higher education, however, he possessed a wisdom that enchanted everyone.<\/p>\n

A versatile teacher in both Languages \u200b\u200band Sciences, he taught almost all subjects.<\/p>\n

At Sal, he was a Mathematics teacher, having performed his teaching duties in an \u201cexemplary manner\u201d.<\/p>\n
