Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Several first ladies from the African continent are expected on Friday, in Maputo, to debate Gender Equality in Africa, namely access to healthcare and education for women, it was announced today.<\/p>\n “Eliminating gender disparity in Africa is not an act of charity for girls and women, but an act of justice and common sense that will benefit us all”, said Mozambican first lady, Isaura Nyusi, who promotes the Conference International Conference on Gender Equality in Africa alluding to the launch of the “We Are Equal” campaign and replica of the “Zero Waste” movement.<\/p>\n Friday’s conference has the confirmed presence of the first ladies of Botswana, Malawi, Nigeria, Kenya and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n “Achieving gender equality is fundamental to boosting social and economic progress for everyone and building the world we want”, argued Isaura Nyusi.<\/p>\n He added that that campaign is led by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OPDAD), which also brings together partners and allies, to promote gender equality “and close the gender gap across the continent”.<\/p>\n “Highlighting an essential truth: we are equal \u2014 and always have been,” said the Mozambican first lady.<\/p>\n The campaign, to be launched at the international conference in Maputo this Friday, is based on four pillars: Access to healthcare, education, economic opportunities and freedom from gender-based violence<\/p>\n Isaura Nyusi justified choosing the month of January to launch this “unifying” campaign and replica of the global “Zero Waste” movement, which “aims at adopting a sustainable lifestyle”, to “reduce the environmental footprint” and build ” a cleaner and greener future”, as the 24th of this month marks International Education Day.<\/p>\n “Education, in addition to being one of the key pillars, is the essential tool not only for the emancipation of women in all spheres, but also for the transmission of knowledge and skills for the handling of solid waste both in urban areas and in rural areas”, said Isaura Nyusi.<\/p>\n Asemana<\/b><\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About Cape verde<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Asemana Africa-Press – Cape verde.
