Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>This Tuesday, Cape Verde and Portugal signed an application to the United Nations to support the professional training project announced a month and a half ago, budgeted at four million euros, over two years, to cover 2,000 people.<\/p>\n

\u201cPortugal and Cape Verde are applying to the United Nations global accelerator, on the way to the social summit to be held in 2025, with an exemplary project from the point of view of cooperation\u201d, said the Portuguese Minister of Labor, Ana Mendes Godinho, today, on the beach.<\/p>\n

The initiative is directed by the UN to cooperative actions \u201cto respond to major challenges\u201d, in this case, \u201cworker mobility, migration, training and development\u201d.<\/p>\n

The qualification announced in December will address areas \u201cessential for Cape Verde and Portugal\u201d, starting from the base presented by the archipelago, forming human capital for the country, but which can also marry with the interests of Portuguese companies.<\/p>\n

The minister highlighted the possibility of a meeting \u201cbetween the needs of companies in Portugal\u201d and \u201cthe priorities of Cape Verde\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a program for everyone to win\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The project covers renewable energy, digital economy, social areas, tourism, metalworking, mechatronics and civil construction, among others, said the deputy prime minister, Olavo Correia, after signing.<\/p>\n

Cape Verde’s objective is \u201cnot only to train\u201d, but also to \u201cguarantee the promotion of entrepreneurship\u201d, so there must be financial incentives after training, \u201cso that young people can start their professional lives\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Young people \u201cdon’t have money from the Bank, because they don’t have guarantees\u201d, so it’s up to the State to create appropriate mechanisms, he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cost of not investing is much greater than investing in young people\u201d, he pointed out.<\/p>\n

The Government of Cape Verde also has the ambition that the project with Portugal (and now a candidate for UN support) will help to make the archipelago \u201ca training center for the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP)\u201d, said Olavo Correia .<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom Cape Verde we want to train for the domestic market, but also for various world geographies\u201d, he said, on the sidelines of the signing of the application to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Promoters hope that the project will begin receiving the first trainees this year.<\/p>\n
