Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The University of Santiago (US) is holding, this Saturday, the 27th, the conference \u201cGreen and Creative Revolutions: Catalysts for a sustainable destination\u201d, in Santa Cruz, focusing on the interconnections of tourism, highlighting agribusiness and creative industries as engines for the development of sustainable tourism in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

According to the president of the board of directors of the Casa do Empreendedor at the University of Santiago, Jose\u0301 Lui\u0301s Mascarenhas, the conference marks the return of the US-Comunidades program, interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

“We are resuming the US-Communities program with the aim of strengthening ties with the local community, offering a week full of activities and ending with a conference. We chose to highlight the intersectoral relations of tourism, focusing especially on agribusiness and creative industries , under the title ‘Green and Creative Revolutions as Catalysts for a Sustainable Tourist Destination’\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

As he explained, the event is aimed primarily at the local community, and is an opportunity for collaboration between academia and essential sectors of the Santa Cruz Council.<\/p>\n

“We want to actively involve the population and, to this end, we will not only count on the participation of local authorities, but also renowned experts”, he said.<\/p>\n

The conference will close with a creative industries fair, showcasing local products, from crafts to gastronomy.<\/p>\n

” Our target audience is diverse, including the academic community, tourism agents, hoteliers, transporters, tour guides and creative industry professionals. We look forward to exploring how the green economy and creative economy can drive the development of sustainable tourism in Cape Verde”, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

The conference has the collaboration of the Santa Cruz City Council; Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Ministry of Tourism and Transport; Decentralized Services of the Ministries of Education and Health in Santa Cruz; Economic Operators; Tourism Fund and Environment Fund; Santa Cruz Employment and Professional Training Center; Civil Protection and ACAISA and other Civil Society Associations.<\/p>\n
