Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Government is looking for consultants to develop a strategy for implementing the 5G mobile network in the archipelago, announced the Special Project Management Unit (UGPE), a government department.<\/p>\n

The final document should be a \u201cnational strategy for the implementation of 5G in Cape Verde, fully aligned with global best practices and the country’s digital transformation strategy\u201d, reads the UGPE announcement, consulted today by Lusa.<\/p>\n

The technical assistance provided by consultants is part of the World Bank’s support, worth 20 million dollars, for the implementation of the Cabo Verde Digital project.<\/p>\n

Expressions of interest must be made by February 9th and the dossier must be ready within four months after hiring.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project will support the Government of Cape Verde (GoCV) in its recent digital governance efforts\u201d, with \u201cclear indications for the connection of infrastructures, namely, development of a guide to implement a 5G system on the islands\u201d, reads the announcement.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, the Government wants to know the potential and opportunities of 5G technology for the country’s digital transformation.<\/p>\n

Associated with this point, the study must detail \u201ca strategy for the cohabitation of 4G and 5G networks, as well as for turning off 2G and 3G networks\u201d.<\/p>\n

The work must also prepare authorities regarding 5G network infrastructure, implementation costs, financing funds and investment mechanisms.<\/p>\n

Other aspects include an analysis of network security and privacy measures, transformation and skills creation, and a strategy for regulating and allocating 5G frequency spectrum.<\/p>\n

5G is the most advanced technology standard for mobile networks, launched in 2019, with faster data transfer speeds than 4G, but whose use depends on the implementation and coverage provided by operators.<\/p>\n
