The measure is justified by the City Council’s alleged failure to comply with the agreements signed to improve the working conditions of the class.<\/p>\n

Announcement made today, at a press conference, by SIACSA representative, Heidy Ganeto, who criticizes the authorities’ \u201cneglect\u201d regarding the situation of municipal firefighters<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to these situations and the silence on the part of the S\u00e3o Vicente City Council, we have no alternative but to go for another demonstration and with a strike already scheduled. We are facing a chamber that does not comply with its rules. The S\u00e3o Vicente City Council has responsibility towards its employees. The most serious thing is that it does not respect signed agreements with a date to be fulfilled\u201d, he complains.<\/p>\n

In December, SIACSA called off a six-day strike, following an agreement reached with the local authority to resolve the main points of the demands.<\/p>\n

At the time, the union set January 2024 as the deadline for promotions, increasing the number of members in the corporation, payment of the risk allowance of eight thousand escudos, and the allocation of a meal on every shift.<\/p>\n

\u201cFaced with what we consider to be a lack of respect, we are moving towards a strike that will only be lifted upon payment of the remaining amount for the risk allowance, the inspection of the vehicles and the allocation of the meal. Either the agreed points are fulfilled, or else the strike will continue and the firefighters will stop during Carnival\u201d, he states.<\/p>\n

Heidy Ganeto guarantees that the union remains open to dialogue, but wants concrete actions from the municipality.<\/p>\n

The increase in the number of personnel, according to the numbers defined by the class statute, the improvement of working conditions, better personal and work protection equipment are long-standing demands of the Municipal Firefighters of S\u00e3o Vicente.<\/p>\n
