Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>On Tuesday, the Government will launch the privatization process of the company CV Handling, which provides assistance to air transport at the country’s seven airports and airfields, it announced today in a statement.<\/p>\n

Privatization will be done in two ways. On the one hand, through a limited competition, with prior qualification for the selection of a strategic partner to acquire a share that can reach up to 51% of the shares. On the other hand, a public sale offer will be made that will amount to 10% of the share capital, up to 5% for CV Handling workers and, at least, 5% for Cape Verdean emigrants, according to the legal framework.<\/p>\n

CV Handling was created in 2014 and is the only operator licensed to provide air transport assistance services, maintaining exclusivity until each airport reaches a movement equal to or greater than two million boarded passengers or 25 thousand tons of cargo.<\/p>\n

This is the second state-owned company to be privatized this year.<\/p>\n

On January 10th, the Public Offering (OPV) of 27.44% of Caixa Econo\u0301mica shares was launched, part held by the State in one of the largest banks in the country \u2013 OPV that runs until February 23rd, with a public presentation of results scheduled for February 29th.<\/p>\n

Finance Minister Olavo Correia said, in January, in an interview with Lusa, that the Government intends to carry out the privatization or concession of nine state-owned companies by the end of the first half of 2025.<\/p>\n

In addition to Caixa Econo\u0301mica and CV Handling, ENAPOR’s port operations are also on the privatization list – a prior market consultation has already been approved, soon – as well as the pharmaceutical sector via Emprofac\/Inpharma and the sale of the stake held by the National Airports and Air Security Company (ASA) and the National Social Security Institute (INPS) at Cabo Verde Telecom.<\/p>\n

The institutional reform and restructuring of the energy sector is part of the dossier, with the privatization of Electra, in the form of a split, with the sale of shares in two companies, one producing and the other distributing electricity.<\/p>\n

The restructuring of the Cape Verde Naval Shipyards (Cabnave), the stabilization of the operations of Transportes Ae\u0301reos de Cabo Verde (TACV) and its privatization are also part of the list, which also includes the company A\u0301gua e Energia de Boavista.<\/p>\n
