Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>During the morning of the Sunday session of the 37th Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, the President of the Republic, Jose\u0301 Maria Neves, and his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, expressed the desire to strengthen ties between the two countries .<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning, on the sidelines of the African Union Assembly, I had a meeting with the Kenyan President, William Ruto. I invited him, which was promptly accepted, to become Co-champion for the Preservation of Africa’s Natural and Cultural Heritage, representing East Africa\u201d, wrote the President of the Republic on his Facebook account, quoted by Inforpress.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Maria Neves said that he had spoken with President William Ruto, who was appointed, on Saturday, Champion for the institutional reform of the African Union, succeeding President Paul Kagame, of Rwanda, on the reform of the governance system in Africa, indicating that the his Kenyan counterpart highlighted his desire to share \u201cviews and experiences on this important dossier\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also agreed to exchange state visits, on dates to be determined, to strengthen friendly and cooperative relations between our two countries\u201d, concluded the head of state.<\/p>\n

According to the Presidency, these concrete steps demonstrate the commitment of the two leaders to greater rapprochement and cooperation between Cape Verde and Kenya, also aiming at a beneficial partnership for the African continent as a whole.<\/p>\n

At this summit of heads of state and government of the African Union, which ends this Sunday, more than thirty political leaders were debating the crises facing the continent, shaken by coups d’e\u0301tat, unconstitutional changes and global conflicts.<\/p>\n

According to Radio France International (RFI), the departure of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger from ECOWAS, the political crisis in Senegal and the lack of funds for the African Union’s Peace and Security system marked the agenda of African leaders.<\/p>\n

Global conflicts were also debated during the 37th summit of the pan-African organization.<\/p>\n
