In the opening act, the first lady, De\u0301bora Carvalho, stated that art is one of the areas that have worked precisely to encourage the participation of women, which has proven to be \u201cnot very expressive\u201d, as well as several other segments in Cape Verde, hence the need to \u201cintensify the female presence\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe face of poverty in Cape Verde has a feminine face, there is little participation of women in art and we want to show that it is possible to change this reality\u201d, said the same source.<\/p>\n

The trainer, the artist Cida Lima, for her part, highlighted that the main objective of this workshop is to develop potential for aesthetic and environmental censuses, transforming waste into works of art.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is training for people who work with this, to generate income, and who generate a quality product and that this product is of quality. Certainly, in addition to doing good for the environment, it will generate income, that’s what I want, so this training, the link I make with the environment, is the main vector\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

He explained that Oficina de Arte de Corac\u0327o\u0303es is justified by the way it works, \u201calways with heart, a feeling of affection and delicacy\u201d, which, he found, the Cape Verdean people \u201cespecially\u201d possessed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve been to many African countries, but I’ve never felt as welcomed as I do here. In turn, graduate Andreia Sanches praised the opportunity to participate in the workshop, hoping that it will be \u201can incredible exchange of experience\u201d, that she will learn a lot and be able to put her learning into practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to do something to improve the environment and recycling is important because everything is raw material that we can use, so I hope we can learn a lot more to put into practice and teach others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
