Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Atlantic Music Expo (AME) 2024 takes place from the 1st to the 4th of April, under the motto “Artistic sustainability”, announced today, in the city of Praia, the general director of the event Gugas Veiga.<\/p>\n

Gugas Veiga spoke to Inforpress about the preparations for the AME taking place in the Cape Verdean capital, highlighting the continuous commitment to excellence and the cultural impact that the event has provided over the years.<\/p>\n

Budgeted at around 20 thousand contos, this year’s world music fair focuses on the motto \u201cArtistic sustainability\u201d, a crucial theme for both cultural and musical events, but above all for the artists’ careers, according to Gugas Veiga.<\/p>\n

This is because we often see artists achieving momentary success only to face financial difficulties later on, without sustainable sources of income to support them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have often seen artists who have a career, but then end up in penury, they have no sustainability in their career and in their lives, they have no sources of income. An artist stays at his peak for 10 years and doesn’t save money to survive after that\u201d, explained the general director of AME.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he added, this year the lectures and conferences are focused on economic, social and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Gugas Veiga also indicated a \u201cvery impactful and at the same time sensitive\u201d topic that will be addressed during the lectures, which is the issue of alcohol legislation and its impact on the financing of musical and cultural events, as regulations alcohol-related events can significantly influence the financing capacity and viability of events of this type.<\/p>\n

The event, which is in its 10th edition, has taken on \u201cgiant\u201d proportions, having already attended, according to the general director, more than 700 musicians, more than 200 bands and artists, more than 200 national and international journalists, hence the need to improve every year.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that, in the 9th edition of AME, 515 delegates participated, including 80 national and international musicians, 120 artists in 26 performances from 15 nationalities, 50 national and international journalists from 23 nationalities and 60 professionals in the musical field who were invited by organization.<\/p>\n
