Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Cape Verde Women’s Organization (OMCV) promotes a range of activities throughout the month to celebrate March, women’s month, with debates on topics related to women and tributes to members and partners.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Inforpress, president Eloisa Cardoso explained that the OMCV will celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8) and Cape Verdean Women’s Day (March 27), with various activities in all of the institution’s delegations.<\/p>\n

In this context, he said that the kick-off took place on the island of Sa\u0303o Vicente, on Friday, 1st, with a workshop on \u201cWomen in aesthetics\u201d, \u201cHealth and well-being, education and citizenship, equality and gender equity \u201d and a meeting with the beneficiaries of the \u201cLight for Girls\u201d project.<\/p>\n

On March 8th, he said that a \u201cconversation circle\u201d is planned on the \u201cImportance of enrolling in the INPS\u201d, \u201cThe role of the family in the professional guidance of young people\u201d, and a gastronomic fair with the participation of OMCV trainees, all on the island of Sa\u0303o Vicente.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the city of Praia hosts the central event of International Women’s Day, a lecture on \u201cNew Masculinities\u201d and the interpretation center will also be inaugurated in the town of Serra Malagueta, in Santiago Norte.<\/p>\n

In the municipality of Porto Novo, training will be held in creative cutting and sewing, an ‘open conversation’ on \u201cWomen in action and OMCV’s journey in the 43 years of its existence\u201d and a fair of products and opportunities.<\/p>\n

The conference \u201cOn the human rights of women\u201d is scheduled to be held on the 18th in the city of Praia.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the celebrations takes place on March 27th, Cape Verdean Women’s Day and the anniversary of the OMCV, in a central event that will feature the partnership of the Ami\u0301lcar Cabral Foundation, as part of the celebrations of the centenary of Ami\u0301lcar Cabral’s birth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is to have testimonies from people who lived with Ami\u0301lcar Cabral, who can talk a little about him as a person who fought for gender equality, who fought for women’s empowerment and wanted to see women alongside men\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The organization also intends to have testimonies about Cabral’s writings, as the founder of the Guinean and Cape Verdean nationalities has many writings linked to women and which spoke about women and their role.<\/p>\n

In addition, other actions will take place, such as a tribute to partners and members, a gastronomic fair, a health fair, the delivery of kits for developing income-generating activities and visits to regional chains.<\/p>\n
